For the past few decades, God’s faithful remnant have been crying out for the healing of America. We have a covenantal destiny given to us by God which has not been stewarded well. But all of this is changing as people all across the nation are remembering the covenant.

New Birth of Freedom

About two and a half years ago I discovered this when God began to speak to me personally about national healing. I, like so many people I knew, had given up in my heart that this once blessed land would ever be restored. But a few years back God began to tell me that while WE had given up, HE had not. He, being the restorative and redemptive God that He is, has heard the cries of His faithful remnant is in the midst of rescuing a nation on the brink of death. He is far from done with this mighty land.

God established America under the strong leadership of George Washington and many other godly men and women. America’s spiritual history is so much deeper than we know. Many people try to write off our factual American historic and spiritual legacy. Especially in today’s culture. Many don’t understand, or flat-out reject the depths of the spiritual birth of our nation. But, just like President Lincoln so boldly proclaimed from the bloody Gettysburg battlefield, God will give our nation A NEW BIRTH OF FREEDOM.

I offer up to you today that we are in the very labor pains of a new birthing. We broke our covenant and gave our land up to foreigners. But God is so faithful. And in His faithfulness, He has given both a sign in the heavens and a promise from His word of what He intends to do.

It’s ok if you’re skeptical of what I am saying. It’s taken quite a bit of my own research to conclude that it’s true. (You can read some about my journey in “Remember the Covenant”) However, God has confirmed pretty clearly that He has, in fact, made a covenant with America and is actively remembering that covenant right now.

A sign of His covenant

On the evening of the 2018 midterm elections, a familiar but most remarkable sign was seen over the skies of Washington DC. A dramatic vertical rainbow appeared above the Capitol. This occurrence was reported heavily by media outlets across the nation.

What’s remarkable about this sign is that it actually points back to the original covenant God made between himself and man. The covenant God made with Noah.

Genesis tells us God put the rainbow in the sky to remind Himself of this covenant. We read:

Then God spoke to Noah and to his sons with him, saying, “Now behold, I am establishing My covenant with you and with your descendants after you 10 and with every living creature that is with you—the birds, the livestock, and the wild animals of the earth along with you, of everything that comes out of the ark—every living creature of the earth. 11 I will establish My covenant with you: Never again shall all flesh be cut off by the water of a flood, nor shall there ever again be a flood to destroy and ruin the earth.” 12 And God said, “This is the token of the covenant which I am making between Me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations; 13 I set My rainbow in the clouds, and it shall be a sign of a covenant between Me and the earth. 14 It shall come about, when I bring clouds over the earth, that the rainbow shall be seen in the clouds, 15 and I will remember My covenant, which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and never again will the water become a flood to destroy all flesh. 16 When the rainbow is in the clouds and I look at it, I will remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” 17 And God said to Noah, “This [rainbow] is the sign of the covenant which I have established between Me and all living things on the earth.”
Genesis 9:8-17

The rainbow in the sky above DC on election night may seem to you a coincidence. But not to me. For two years he’s been speaking to me about His covenant, and then highlighted it repeatedly this Fall on both trips I took to DC. The covenant was the main theme I focused on while praying through our capital city.

The entirety of my two trips to DC this Fall was focused specifically on Capitol Hill. We were even invited onto the floor of the House Chamber during a private tour of the Capitol the day before the midterms. We got to sit in the seats of the congresspeople who would be elected the very next day. I believe strongly that God is working mightily to heal our House of Representatives. He has not forgotten His covenant with our nation and He invites our legislators to remember it as well.

The rainbow in the sky on election night was covered widely by mainstream media. The USA Today even made mention of it being recognized as an eternal symbol which points back to the God of the bible. Some media said it was a sign of hope. I say it was a sweet and powerful reminder that God has promised to not destroy his covenant people though sin be rampant among us. However, I have one final thought for you to consider.

The Flood of His Goodness

In September 2018 God began speaking to me about a coming flood. He said it was not a destructive flood or even a literal one. It is a flood of the knowledge of His goodness resulting in an increase of the fear of the Lord. Biblical “fear of the Lord” is a deep knowing that God is so good that we are unwilling – “afraid” – to live anywhere outside of His Presence.

Habakkuk 2:14 refers to the coming flood.

14 “But [the time is coming when] the earth shall be filled With the knowledge of the glory of the LordAs the waters cover the sea.”

You see, the rainbow was a sign of God’s promise that He would never DESTROY the earth with a flood. But, what if God plans to RESTORE the earth with a flood? I believe this is the coming flood He’s been speaking to me about. A flood where America will again know a deep abiding in His Presence and learn to fear Him. We will not be afraid. We will be in awe.

He is sending us signs that HE remembers His covenant. America, He is waiting.

Remember the Covenant

America has tried to live on her own without God. She has forgotten where all of her protection and provision come from. She has forgotten what it is to live according to the Kingdom, both in the values she has and the manner in which she treats her fellow person. She thought she could thrive without God. Turns out, she can not.

Many American’s are broken and hurting. We are in need of our Healer and Restorer. God is calling out to us to remember He is still with us, ready and waiting for us to cry out to Him. A faithful and loving Father to this nation who has promised to never leave us or forsake us. Even when we leave and forsake Him.

I do not completely understand all that has happened these last few years in our nation. However, without a shadow of a doubt I know we were headed for destruction when our ever Faithful and loving Father intervened. While much work has yet to be done, I believe we have awakened from our spiritual slumber and are coming to realize the need for our Creator.

We live in a land that once provided hope for the oppressed and persecuted. A land that rejected slavery to fear of man, and established freedom by living connected to God. America has a divine destiny she has not yet fully embraced. But she will. Our nation’s early founders covenanted this land to the glory of God and advancement of His Kingdom. This is a land of Promise. This is the land of people who belong to God. So Rise and Shine people of America and remember the Covenant.
